Cherishing Opportunity

In our busy daily lives of hustle and bustle, we often take for granted that the rights we enjoy are universal. To be honest, it is not something we spend much time pondering because rarely have we experienced anything to make us realize inequities exist across the globe.  Whether looking for a job or applying to a university, we have been made to feel we have the same chance of acceptance as other applicants. After all, this is The American Dream – that regardless of race, gender, or economic status, we can achieve anything if we are willing to work hard for it.

A Reality Check

However, while researching about other countries and cultures in Asia, we quickly realize that not every woman is fortunate to have equal access to jobs, careers, and opportunities in general.  Statista.com found 79% of respondents agreed that men have more rights to a job than women in the Asia Pacific region.

Understanding Inequality

As an American, we grapple to understand this quandary.  By examining how this statistic might affect a woman in gauging her self-worth as a human being, our hearts ache for Asian women who do not enjoy equitable opportunities in achieving their dreams.

Turning Dreams into Reality

WHW hopes to change this.  We aim to enlighten the women of Asia and show them that not only is it ok to dream but their dreams can become reality! We are achieving this by teaching them sustainable ways to earn a living. Every woman you support is taught how to sew in a rigorous six-month course where all materials including their sewing machine is supplied for free. Many of these women now enjoy a sustainable income and we are so proud of them!

We hope you will join us and help create change in Asia!
